MILLIONS IN NEW FEDERAL INVESTMENTS

In Congress, Rep. Jayapal has secured over $68.8 million in federal funding for 40 community projects in the district. This includes:

  • $12.3 million for housing, including 300 new units and emergency shelter for 200 people

  • $1.5 million for food banks and expanding food access to 3,900 households annually

  • $1 million Seattle Opportunity Work Corps’ Seattle Jobs Initiative

Congresswoman Jayapal also secured passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which has delivered over $2.5 billion in private sector commitments & $9.3 billion in public investments in the district.

PASSING MAJOR, TRANSFORMATIVE LEGISLATION

As Chair of the Progressive Caucus, Pramila has played an integral role in passing transformative legislation, including:

  • The Inflation Reduction Act: Cap insulin at $35 for seniors, medicare drug price negotiation, lower costs for families, make big corporations pay their fair share, largest-ever climate action investment

  • The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law: Rebuild our roads, bridges, ports, and airports, replace lead pipes, and create new good-paying green, union jobs

  • The CHIPS and Science Act: Secured passage to create new, green high-tech good-paying jobs.

  • The Safer Communities Act: The first major gun safety law in over thirty years.

CHAMPIONING PROGRESSIVE PRIORITIES

In Congress, Pramila has led efforts to pass bold, transformative progressive legislation. She is the lead sponsor of multiple notable progressive bills, including:

  • Medicare for All Act to guarantee health care as a human right.

  • College for All Act to establish tuition-free higher education for a majority of families.

  • PRO Act to expand workers’ rights and make it easier to form a union.

  • Raise the Wage Act to increase the federal minimum wage to $15.

  • National Domestic Workers Bill of Rights to guarantee basic labor rights and protections in the workplace for domestic workers.

  • Trans Bill of Rights to provide comprehensive protections for transgender and nonbinary people.

  • Housing is a Human Right Act to make historic investments in affordable housing.

  • Dignity for Detained Immigrants Act to protect civil and human rights of immigrants.

  • Ultra-Millionaire Tax Act to raise $3 trillion in revenue over 10 years from the top .05% in our economy.
